NORRIS MIDDLE SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS Mr. Rettele
UNITS COVERED: (COULD INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO)

CLASS EXPECTATIONS: 1. You must have your P.E. clothes here each class. 2. Be on time-in the locker room at the appropriate time and at roll call on time, (3 minutes after the tardy bell). 3. Participate in stretching and warm-up running. 4. Participate in class activities at ALL times. 5. No talking while the teacher is giving instruction. 6. Do not use equipment without permission and do not get equipment out before or after class. 7. Follow all rules that are posted throughout the gym and in the fitness room. 8. At the end of class, you must remain IN the gym until the bell rings; not in the hall. 9. Students will be given 5 minutes at the end of class to change clothes. 10. Smile and have fun!!!
GRADING: Students will earn 10 points for class each day they are here, dressed and participating for the whole class period. Written test points will be added to the daily point totals. The following are how points may be lost each day.
1. No P.E. clothes-5 points lost each time- (you will still be required to participate in all class activities). 2. Tardies-lose 2 points for each tardy. 3. Poor Participation in class activities i.e. warm up, conditioning, etc. 4. Talking while the teacher is instructing 5. Poor behavior/sportsmanship/cooperation - points lost based on behavior. 6. Tennis shoes not laced up and snuggly fitting your feet. 7. Wearing your gym clothes in a manner that is inappropriate for participation in physical education classes.
P.E. CLOTHES: Students must dress out each day. T-shirt, shorts or sweats, socks and tennis shoes are acceptable clothes. Jeans, jean shorts or boxers are not acceptable. NO tank tops or cut-off shirts. Tennis shoes will need to have the laces tied. Any jewelry and watches should be left in your locker.
EXCUSED ABSENCES: A student will only be excused from class with a written note from a parent, nurse or doctor. Students will be excused for up to one calendar week if necessary with a note. If more time is needed, a note from a doctor is necessary. Students will need to have a note for an injury or illness to excuse them from participating in class.
LOCKERS: 1. DO NOT give your locker combination to others OR leave your lock set. 2. DO NOT share lockers. Use your assigned locker only. Not having clothes because they are in someone else’s locker and they are not here, is not excused. 3. You are responsible for locking up you clothes and valuables in your locker during class. DO NOT leave them unlocked.
