To support older Windows Media codecs using Media Player 6.4, the Windows Media 8 Codec Install Package is available. Network administrators who wish to deploy Windows Media Audio and Video codecs for version 7.0 and later of Windows Media Player should use Windows Media 9 Series Codecs Package.

For network administrators who wish to deploy the Windows Media Audio and Video codecs, there is a codec installation package designed to enable network administrators to deploy these codecs within their network. This package only supports version 7.0 and later of the Windows Media Player, and Media Player for Windows XP.
