There are many benefits of placing classroom materials and items on the web:

• Involve students beyond the walls of your classroom
• Motivating
• Reduce your time distributing materials
• Great for when a student misses class!

A few things to keep in mind:

• At first, it will take time. Your timesavings will be seen in the future.
• Not everyone has access at home

Eboard (www.eboard.com) is an easy way to get your class online.

• Each board can have post-it type of notes for discussion, information, pictures and retrieving files.
• You need to know the name of the board and the password to view the board. There is also a password for editing the board and a control center password for setting defaults.
• You can change the color of the board and the color of each post-it note.
• This is a very easy and non-intimidating way of setting up a home page or information online.

GaggleNet (www.gaggle.net) is a way for a school to outsource its student email and maintain control over students. (This is a free service if you are willing to accept ads.)

• Allows teacher access to view student email
• Can delegate rights to individual teachers for setting up classes and accounts
