History Bee Students Compete at Regionals SEVEN Qualify for Nationals

History Bee Students Compete at Regionals SEVEN Qualify for Nationals

Thursday, March 23, 2017

On Monday, March 20, Ten Norris Middle School students attended the History Bee Regional Contest in Omaha. These students qualified for regionals by taking an online test last December.

At regionals, students competed against other students from nearby schools in two buzzer rounds, one focused on American History and the other on World History. Participants also took a written test in each category. Their scores were then combined to determine who qualified for the National History Bee contest, which will be held in Atlanta, Georgia this June.

NMS students had fantastic results! Marshall Severson came home as the champion of the 8th grade division, winning on a tie-breaker question. Sadie Hornug-Scherr, Anna Rohrer, and Mason Severson also made the top 8 in their respective divisions and participated in championship rounds. In addition, Cooper Bice, Grayson Palmero, and Isabella Kester also scored very well and earned a spot at nationals, giving NMS seven national qualifiers in all.

Congratulations to these students and their moderator, Darcy Meinke! Good Luck at Nationals in June!
