the course of the year, students will learn the basics of music notation,
singing skills, music history, and music listening skills.
6th Grade Band - Ms. Wilhelm and Mr. Lee
Sixth grade is the first opportunity for students to play a band
instrument. We encourage all students to at least try the experience of playing
an instrument. The awards are many and lifelong. Sixth grade band students will
have class twice a week.
7th & 8th Grade Choir - Mr. Hansmeyer
The Norris Middle School 7th and 8th Grade Choirs make up approximately 140
students at Norris Middle School. The 7th Grade Choir meets on Tuesdays and
Thursdays each week. The 8th Grade Choir meets everyday. Developing students’
singing voices, aural skills, music reading skills, performance skills and an
interest in choral music are all important components of the middle school
choral program. Performances for the choirs include a fall and spring concert,
middle school music contest, and middle school musical. The middle school
musical tends to be the highlight of the year for many students. 8th graders are
assigned the roles and 7th graders are assigned the musical chorus.
