Norris School District, High School Vocal Music

Middle School Music

 7th and 8th Grade Choirs

The Norris Middle School 7th and 8th Grade Choirs make up approximately 140 students at Norris Middle School.  The 7th Grade Choir meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week.  The 8th Grade Choir meets everyday.  Developing students’ singing voices, aural skills, music reading skills, performance skills and an interest in choral music are all important components of the middle school choral program.  Performances for the choirs include a fall and spring concert, middle school music contest, and middle school musical.  The middle school musical tends to be the highlight of the year for many students.  8th graders are assigned the roles and 7th graders are assigned the musical chorus.

6th Grade Music

Sixth Grade Music is a required class for all 6th grade students. During the course of the year, students will learn the basics of music notation, singing skills, music history, and music listening skills.  Students also perform a special concert in March of every year which generally includes singing and some speaking parts.
