STAFF REPORT:  Annette Mitchell announced that the fall concert would be held October 13th and the show choir would perform at Warren Methodist church at 8:00pm on October 27th.  November 4th, the Concordia Men’s Honor Choir will be held and Norris can send 5 singers.

Evan Lee reported that he used the new recording equipment in “Grease” for the number “It’s Raining on Prom Night.”  Students are also using the equipment to make audition tapes for music contests and in music theory class.  Choir will use it for auditions and to record concerts for the archives.  This Saturday the band will march in Clarinda, Iowa and the kids should come at 6:00am to load up the buses.  They will march in the parade at 10:00am and perform at 5:00pm. The interior of the equipment bus has been painted and the carts are being assembled.  Doane Honor Band auditions are due by Wednesday this week and All-State auditions are October 11th.  The itinerary is listed on the Norris web site.  An anonymous donation of $1000 for band was used to purchase a tenor sax.

Old Business:  Gayle says there are only 10 calendars left.  The Voice wants to bid on the printing of our calendars next year.  We have enough bus sponsors for the October 18th trip.  Backpacks were restocked by Gail Schmidt and Sherry Wright.  Robin has the 5 cases of pop for the Clarinda, Iowa trip and Joyce will send a thank you to Pepsi.

The bake sale will be October 27th after school and Janis will get the cash box with $50.  Cheryl, Gail, and Jill Hage will call for food donations.  November 4th we’ll sell Sloppy Joes and Joyce and Gayle will help with that.

Picture buttons should be done before the Saturday competition.  Please put April 23rd on your calendar to help with District Music Contest.  The deadline to be reimbursed for the Honor group fees was discussed and Joyce moved and Janis seconded that March 1st is the deadline.  It was approved.

New Business:  EMC Vocal Clinic will be at Norris and each school can bring 30 kids.  Norris can have more because we are the host school.  We decided to get pizza from HyVee and we’ll serve 2 pieces of pizza, 2 cookies or bars, and carrots and dip.  Drinks will be lemonade, water, or iced tea and the cost will be $5.00, which is prepaid.

The Band Banquet will be November 8th in the multi-purpose room at 6:30pm.  Gayle will check with Cornerstone Catering to see if they can cater and Cheryl moved we have that or Lee’s chicken as a second choice.  Sue Fix seconded the motion.  Andrew Keralis is working on a PowerPoint presentation for the banquet.

The Peru Show Choir Festival is October 29th and we will pay for the Pizza Hut food.  We’ll put a $35 ad in the Lincoln High Band Boosters NSBA program.  Evan will check on the cost of the video camera.

The next meeting will be October 28th at 7:00pm.

The meeting was adjourned.
