President Gayle French called the meeting to order with 11 members and 2 music staff present. The minutes were approved as read.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Janis Dymacek, treasurer, reported a balance of $559.02 in the checking account and $2209.85 in the savings account. The treasurer’s report was approved as read.
STAFF REPORT: Becky reported Tri-M had their induction ceremony and 11 new members were invited to join. Concert band started today. Dates of the upcoming Holiday concerts were announced for middle and high school. Evan has not purchased the video camera yet. The Band Banquet will be November 8th at 6:30pm in the Multi-Purpose room. Reservations need to be made by November 5th. High School All-State members are Evan Brunkow, Lisa Karel, and Sarah Hetrick for choir and Scott Dymacek, Rayla French for band and Ben Hage, orchestra. Auditions for the UNL Winter Winds are this week. Festival Band at the Doane College Festival of Winds is November 1st. Selected to participate are Jordan Carey, Britton Huenink, Joel Keralis, and Jessica Niemeyer. The Doane Honor Band at the Doane College Festival of Winds on the same date will include Iris Aechtner, Rayla French, Carrie Hagstrom, Shannon Hier, and Carrie Schmidt.
Old Business: November 18th is the EMC Vocal music clinic. We will serve supper to over 300 students and their directors. Our students will eat for free and the visiting schools will pay $5 per meal. The following people volunteered to donate 3 dozen cookies or bars: Sue Fix, Janet Denison, Becky Brunkow, Sherry Wright, Nancy Price, Joyce Kubicek, Janis Dymacek, and Robin Keralis. Helping serve the meal are Gail Schmidt, Janis Dymacek, Janet Denison, Robin and Michael Keralis, Sue Fix, and Becky Brunkow. Calendars are gone and we made at least $600. We had to buy supplies for picture buttons. Gayle thanked the workers and parents who donated to the bake sale.
New Business: Please clear your calendars for April 24th so you can help with District Music contest. The deadline to be reimbursed for the Honor Bands and Choirs is March 1st. Our next meeting is scheduled for February 23rd, 2004 at 7:00pm in the band room.
