March 24, 2003

          President Gayle French called the meeting to order and the minutes were approved as read.  Eight members were present and three staff members.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Janis Dymacek, treasurer, reported a balance of $266.35 in the checking account and $1101.51 in the savings account.  The report was approved as presented.

STAFF REPORT:  Annette Mitchell said the Middle School Music Contest went well and the 7th grade band got a Division II rating and the 8th grade band and the 7th and 8th grade choirs received Division I ratings.  District Music Contest auditions are this week. 

Evan Lee reported Titan Express was finished and the jazz band has been to Bellevue East and Lincoln Lutheran contests.  The LPS Jazz Festival is April 5th.  The students are getting ready for the district Music contest and final concert.  The marching band camp will be August 4-8.  Cody-Kilgore was grateful that the Norris Titan Express played at their state tournament game and Evan was thanked by the group and several people in the community. 

Becky Wilhelm reported registration and results will be done on-line for District Music contest.  There will also be a video on-line of the event.

Old Business:  Gayle led a discussion of the food that would be served at District Music contest.  We will have Blimpie sandwiches that will cost us $2.00 each and $6.00 pizzas from HyVee.  We’re waiting to get the number of people registered.  Pop, water, and juice will be served and donuts, bagels, and fruit in the morning.  Gayle will talk to the kitchen about making rolls.  Janis Dymacek and Sherry Wright will call to get donations of cookies and bars to sell.  Students going on a European trip will sell snack items.

New Business:  A nominating committee will be formed to suggest a slate of officers for next year.  They will be voted on at the April meeting.  Gayle is willing to serve as President next year, if elected.  April 1st is the deadline for the scholarship applications.

The next meeting will be Monday, April 28th at 6:30pm.  It will be held at Gayle French’s home in Panama.  Food will be served and Gayle and some committee members will provide it.
