President Gayle French called the meeting to order and the minutes were approved as read.  Eight members were present and three staff members.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Janis Dymacek, treasurer, reported a balance of $296.35 in the checking account and $1101.51 in the savings account.  The report was approved as presented.

STAFF REPORT:  Becky Wilhelm says the District Music Contest on April 24-25th will have jazz band, show choir, and piano solos on Thursday night.  We will need door monitors that evening.  Friday will be the day when we need lots of workers to keep the judges on schedule, announce performances, and help in the 2 hospitality rooms for directors and judges.  There will be a concession stand that has to be staffed, also.  Students help, also.  The AA and A schools will compete at Norris so it will be a smaller group than in the past.  The registration deadline for the bands is April 3rd and after that schedules can be finalized.  Robin Keralis will organize the judge’s room.

Gayle suggested we have the same menu as in the past, which is Blimpie sandwiches and pizza.  We discussed the amounts we need to order.  Pepsi will take back any unused pop.  We’ll have donuts, bagels, and fruit in the morning.

The Middle School Music Contest will be at Springfield-Platteview and chaperones will be needed.  Becky Wilhelm will send schedule information as soon as it is available.  The Blair Middle School honor band is March 29th and Andrew Keralis, Mindy Dymacek, Alex Baruth, Michelle Lindgren, and Gabe Williamson will go.

Annette Mitchell reported on the activities of the honor choir and show choir at Doane, Wesleyan, Hastings, and UNO.  The Middle School choir will sing at the State Capitol at noon on March 3rd.  The Young Men in Harmony will have a Barbershop concert at Norris at 7:00pm on March 18th.

Evan Lee discussed the honor bands at Doane, UNO, UNL, and Hastings.  On March 10th there will be a High School Band Concert at 7:30pm.  The jazz band will play at Bellevue East on March 15th and Lincoln Lutheran on March 22nd.  April 5th is the LPS Jazz contest and April 8th is the Hastings Jazz Contest.  Jazz Band has formed two combos called “This One” and “That One”.  The Chicago trip for the jazz band was cancelled because the room reservations were lost.

New Business:  Scholarship applications are available from Mr. Carlson.  We discussed staff appreciation gifts and it was decided we would pay their subscription to the Voice.  The Titan Express will go to District Basketball games to play at the expense of the school and not the band funds.

The next meeting will be March 24th at 7:00pm, and the last meeting until fall will be April 28th at Gayle French’s house.

The meeting was adjourned.
