President Gayle French called the meeting to order with 13 members and 3 music staff present.  This was the end-of-year meeting held after a celebration cook-out at Gayle French’s home.  The minutes were approved as read.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Janis Dymacek, treasurer, reported a deposit of $4760.00, but did not provide a detailed treasurer’s report.

STAFF REPORT:  Annette Mitchell said District Music Contest went well and the spring concert will be May 12.  Show choir auditions will be May 7th, and the musical audition is May 14th

Evan said the marching band will do a show based on West Side Story next year, and the color guard will be auditioning.  There will be a mailing in June regarding band camp.

Becky said the Middle School concert is May 15th and the 6th grade will be at 6:30pm and the 7th and 8th grade will be at 7:30pm.  Norris will request to host District Music Contest next year and Becky thanked students and parents who helped make it a success.  The judges were please with the food they were provided.

Old Business:  The District Music Contest food estimate was correct regarding pizza, but we did have sandwiches left over.  There were also excess bagels and the donuts seemed more popular.  The final figures are not available, but our profit will be in the neighborhood of $1500.  Good ideas used at District Music Contest were the velvet ropes at the auditorium doors, the juice, the Thursday night sales, having it all in one building, and the smaller number of bands.  Things that didn’t go so well were the scheduling of the Norris band during lunch so there weren’t enough workers then, and the need for menus by the place where you pay for food.  More signs would have been helpful, in general.

New Business:  All the current officers were asked to serve another term and they were elected.  Scholarship applications were discussed.  It was suggested that the current criteria for scholarship applicants will remain as is.  Cheryl Brazee moved that we approve that plan and Janis Dymacek seconded it.  There was a discussion for clarification and the motion was approved.  Jim and Janis Dymacek will order and pick up the roses for the senior parents.  Band camp will be August 4-8 and volunteers for the pizza party there are Nancy Price, Becky Herms, Janis Dymacek, Sherry Wright and any others that would like to help.  Bill Wright will negotiate a price with Papa John’s Pizza.  Ideas for next year were discussed.  Becky moved that we do the same Music booster projects next year and Robin seconded the motion.  It was approved.  Janis moved we raise the calendar prices from $2.50 to $3.00 per calendar and the motion was approved.  Two ideas were discussed for grant funding in 2003-2004 school year.  They were choir risers and sound proofing for the rehearsal rooms.

The next meeting will be August 25th at 7:00pm.

The meeting was adjourned.
