President Gayle French called the meeting to order and introductions were made. Ten members and 4 music teachers were present. Gayle thanked all for coming and volunteering this year. The minutes were read and accepted with no changes.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Janis Dymacek, treasurer reported a balance of $1311.38 in the checking account and $3369.50 in the savings account. The report was approved.
STAFF REPORT: Becky Wilhelm reported on the upcoming concert dates and that auditions for color guard and drum major are coming up. Middle school had 4 students compete in the Blair honor band. Norris bid to host District Music Contest.
OLD BUSINESS: We earned $161.00 at the Spring Recital which is less than last year. Gayle suggested we not do Spring Recital and we discussed the implications. It was tabled to be considered next year.
NEW BUSINESS: Gayle acting as the nominating committee offered a slate of officers for next year. It is President, Gayle French; Vice President, Robin Keralis; Secretary, Joyce Kubicek; and Treasurer, Janis Dymacek. There were no further nominations and the slate was approved.
Scholarship applications are being done on a point system and this year Robert Montgomery and Julie Brandt will receive $500 each. The process may be reviewed this summer.
The Fine Arts Banquet is cancelled and if you have questions, talk to Annette or Becky. This decision was not made by the Music Boosters.
We will provide roses to the seniors at the Spring Concert. Janis will help Gayle hand them out.
The Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps will come to Norris on August 4th and we may provide a meal on the 4th or 5th.
Norris Band Camp will be July 29-August 2nd. Gayle took the names of parents able to help with fitting uniforms and the pizza party.
Next year we will do pocket calendars, a bake sale on conference night, a band banquet, and possibly District Music Contest. Volunteers will be needed for all of these projects.
We applied for a sales tax permit in the past and reports need to be submitted. Evan suggested his wife might be able to answer questions about this process.
There was no other business brought up and the meeting was adjourned.
