June 18, 2001

Members present:  Becky Wilhelm, Annette Mitchell, Janis Dymacek, Gayle French, Joyce and Stan Kubicek, Evan and Terri Lee.

President Gayle French called the meeting to order.  She introduced Evan and his wife, Terri, and they shared some of their background.  Evan reported the marching band will participate in the usual number of contests, but could possibly add Wayne State Contest on October 27th.  The band will have about 90 members.

During band camp, the kids will pay $5 for a pizza party and another check for the same fees as last year.  Gayle will collect pizza party money on the first day of band camp.  The pizza party will be at 11:30am on Friday.  Chris Obbink will help Gayle with that.

The band leadership will arrange a pot-luck during band camp and each section can bring a different dish.  Staff to help with band camp is finalized.  We need parents to help with uniform check-out at 4:00pm on Monday through Thursday.  Stan Kubicek volunteered to help Monday and Janis Dymacek will do Thursday.  Gayle will get more volunteers by calling Freshman parents.

We will not do district music contest at Norris.  We discussed possible fund raisers and a bake sale at fall parent-teacher conferences was suggested.  It would include ordering food for Norris teachers to have for their evening meal.

Pocket calendars will be sold as a fund raiser and service.  Lower cost printing will be investigated.

The Spring Recital was discussed and we may change from a flat charge to a free-will donation.

We decided not to sell t-shirts this year.

It was decided that Gayle should discuss how scholarships are given with Mr. Carlson.

The honor band and choir members will be reimbursed for their costs after their participation.

Gayle updated us on her PowerPoint presentation and we will try to use it in the elementary next year.

The meeting was adjourned.

Secretary Joyce Kubicek
