Junior Class Info

Each junior who plans to attend prom must:

    1. Work three concession stand shifts

AND

    1. Serve on either a homecoming OR prom committee.

Concession Information:

* You must be EXCUSED by the sponsor in order to leave or your shift will not count!

1.  A shift usually lasts approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours.  The different shifts are as follows:

a.      Pre-Game Shift only works before football games and boys’ basketball games (they are the busiest). The primary jobs of the two people on this shift is to have popcorn ready and help wait on the early customers.  Approximate times are listed, but you must be excused by the sponsor before you are allowed to leave.

b.      The First Shift must set up the stand, including such things as transporting items needed (for football games), displaying candy and other items for sale, starting hot dogs, melting cheese for nachos, making coffee, checking pop machines, filling ketchup and mustard dispensers, etc.  They must also wait on customers, of course.

c.       The Second Shift must wait on customers, put things away, and clean the stand, including returning items taken (for football games) from the indoor stand, washing dishes, wiping out the popcorn machine and microwave, sweeping the floor, wiping the counters, etc.  One person must also do a quick inventory and place the sheet in the money box.

2.  Make a note of your work time when you sign up.  You may also check the list on the bulletin board in Mrs. Martin’s room (HS Media Center).  You are responsible to remember when you are to work.

3.  Once you sign up to work, you are responsible to work that shift or to find your own replacement.  If you fail to find your own replacement, you must work two shifts for the one you missed.  If tardy, you will have to work double any time missed.  (Example:  15 minutes late – work an extra 30 minutes.)  Mrs. Martin MUST be notified of all changes in the schedule to make sure that you get credit for working.

4.  Only those juniors who have completed three concession stand shifts AND served on either a homecoming or prom committee will be allowed to go to prom.  You should work the required number of shifts even if you are uncertain whether you will attend prom.  If you are absolutely sure you will not attend prom this year, tell Mrs. Martin as soon as possible and fill out the proper form.

5.  Softball shifts and wrestling triangulars count as two shifts.

When working the concession stand,

Be on time.

You may have one free pop and popcorn after you have worked your shift.

Please remember:  Stealing anything from the concession stand is a serious offense.  Anyone found guilty will not be allowed to attend prom and may be prosecuted.  If you see anyone stealing from the stand, report him/her to the supervisor.
