Everything You Need to Know About Kindergarten:

A Parent’s Guide

The information below answers the questions asked most about kindergarten:

Attendance:  You need to contact the school office at 791-0030 if your child is unable to attend school or arriving late.  If we do not hear from you, it is the school policy to contact the parents to determine the reason for the absence.

Transportation:  I will put your child on the assigned bus each day at dismissal time unless I receive a note from you with other directions.  If you realize during the day that you have forgotten to send a note you must call the school office.   Your child will be put on the bus each day, unless we have a written note from you informing us of a change.  Children at this age can get messages confused so I will not change going home plans without a note from home.  A note is necessary if there is any change in your child's transportation plans.

When bringing a child to school after an appointment, we ask that you use the main entrance by the flag pole, then check in at the office to let them know that your child is now in school.  The north doors are locked  during the school day from 9:00 - 3:00

We ask that you make every attempt possible to schedule  appointments for your child on non-school days or toward the end of the school day, after 2:30 would be best.

Parent delivery and pick up at the normal start and end of day, should occur  through the north entrance.  This will alleviate any concerns with being in the way of the school buses.  All children that ride the bus will use the main entrance when entering and leaving the school.

Due to the amount of traffic in the north parking lot, for your child’s safety, Kindergartners will wait inside their individual classrooms for after school pick up.  Please go to your child’s classroom and make contact with the teacher to be sure she knows you have your child in hand.  We greatly appreciate your cooperation!

Belongings:  Please label all coats, backpacks, lunch boxes with your child's name.

Money:  If sending money to school with your child, always put it in a sealed envelope or zip-lock bag, label it with their name and what the money is for.

Birthdays:  You are welcome to bring treats for your child's birthday on or near their birthday.  We celebrate summer birthdays on each child's half birthday.  Contact me to let me know a few days in advance if you plan to send something in.   See our classroom birthday list by clicking here.

Newsletters: I do a weekly newsletter as a means of keeping you informed of what we are doing in the classroom.  I use lots of digital photos and try to get every child's picture in the newsletter through out the month.  Click here to read our classroom newsletters.

Medication:  If your child ever needs to take medicine, you are required to bring the medicine in it's original container with the prescribed dosage and method of administration clearly indicated to school and give it to the school nurse.

Lunch:   You will be notified about food costs at the opening of the school year.   We utilize a computerized lunch account program where you can put money into your child's account periodically.  You are encouraged to put money into your child's account at Open House. If your child brings a lunch from home, please be sure they are able to open all containers by themselves. No pop is allowed in a bottle, can or thermos.

Snack: In addition to lunch, the children have milk and a snack every afternoon.  Our school cafeteria provides the snack.  Parent's pay
