Kindergarten Mathematics

Kindergarten math is made up of three instructional components:  The Meeting Board, The Lesson, and Assessments.  The lesson practice activities provide visual reinforcement of concepts and also provide parents with information about the concepts introduced in the lessons and include suggestions for practice at home.

Kindergartners will:                                       

  • Count orally to 100
  • Recognize and sequence numbers 0-20
  • Identify ordinal positions to fourth
  • Act out addition and subtraction stories
  • Count with one-to-one correspondence
  • Sort
  • Graph real objects and pictures
  • Identify and count pennies, nickels, and dimes
  • Identify one half
  • Identify shapes
  • Cover and replicate geometric designs
  • Measure using nonstandard units of measurement
  • Tell time to the hour
  • Use a calendar
  • Write numerals 0-20
