Horatio Alger Scholarship
The Horatio Alger
Association seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity,
perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, a
good academic record, commitment to pursue a college education, and a desire to
contribute to society.
Eligibility:
1. Intend to pursue a bachelor’s degree at an accredited institution (students
may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a
four-year institution).
2. Critical financial need, preferably $50,000 or lower adjusted gross income
per family.
3. Involvement in co-curricular and community
service activities.
4. Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0.
5. US citizen or permanent resident.
Application
Procedure:
1. Students must submit an online application at
www.horatioalger.org/scholarships.
2. Required forms
- Applicants must have one letter of Letter of
Support. They must be logged in to the application
process to complete this. Faxes/emails will
not be accepted.
- All applicants must submit an official High
School transcript with legend that includes
senior year classes.
- Applicants must complete and mail
the certifications form after downloading it from
the website. They must be logged in to the
application process to download the form. The
form must be signed by the applicant,
parent/guardian, and the applicant's principal or
vice principal prior to mailing.
Faxes/emails will not be accepted.
- A copy of the applicant's
parent/guardians federal tax return
The applicant must provide a copy of the front page
of their parent/guardian's 2007 individual federal
tax return (1040, 1040A, 1040 EZ or 1099 SSA-Social
Security Tax Form). If their parent/guardian's
Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) is a negative number,
please submit copies of their parent/guardian's
federal individual tax return for the years of 2005,
2006, and 2007. If their parent/guardians were not
required to file a tax return, include statement
copies of any government benefits, such as food
stamps or Public Assistance documents.

Nebraska Aviation Trades Association
Scholarship
Eligibility: 1. Available to any Nebraska high school graduate or any individual
continuing their education who is a full-time student.
2. Essay topic: "How Agricultural Aviation Helps Farmers and Consumers" Minimum 400 words, double spaced. 3.
Recommendation by member of NATA.

THE
2009 PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARDS
Eligibility:
1. Be
enrolled in grades 9-12.
2. Describe
a volunteer community service activity performed at least in part after 9/1/06.
3. Complete
the online application form thoroughly
and submits to guidance office.
4. One
boy and one girl will be selected locally to advance to State competition.
Financial Information:
One high school student
in each state will receive a $1,000 scholarship and an all-expense paid trip to
Washington D.C.

Society of Automotive
Engineers, Inc. (S.A.E.) Scholarship
Eligibility:
1. High school senior
2. Intend to earn a degree in engineering or a related
science.
3. Meet minimum requirements with regard to GPA, ACT scores as
explained in the individual requirements of
each scholarship.

Norma Ross Walter
Purpose: To provide financial assistance to female
graduates of Nebraska high schools who are or will be planning to enroll as
English majors at accredited colleges or universities. (JOURNALISM IS NOT
INCLUDED.)
Eligibility: Applicants must be prospective first year
college women students who have been or plan to be graduated from Nebraska high
schools and who plan to continue their educations as English majors in
accredited colleges or universities. Selection is based on intellectual promise,
creativity and character of the applicant.
Financial Data: The stipend is $1000, payable at the beginning of the first year
of college. The scholarship is not renewable.

School Heisman
2008 PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT
Eligibility for application is limited
exclusively to men and women entering their senior year of high school
in the 2008-2009 academic year who have at least a “B” grade average and
participate in one of the school-sponsored sports listed below. We want
to hear from all student-athletes who work hard, are
dedicated, and have become role models for your school’s underclassmen.
Students are judged based on their academic achievements, community
service involvement, and athletic accomplishments.
Deadline: Both the application and the review must be done
by 5 pm, central time, October 1, 2008.
