Trustworthiness
A trustworthy person is someone you can count on to do what is right. Being trustworthy means you have earned the trust of other people. Trustworthiness is essential to building positive relationships with others. A trustworthy person is honest, reliable, loyal, and has integrity. People with integrity stand up for their beliefs. They live by their principles no matter what others say, and they have the courage to do what is right even when it is hard to do. If you are trustworthy, you always do your very best to keep your promises. Other people know they can count on you to do what you say you will do. Trustworthy people are reliable and loyal. Reliable people keep their promises, honor their words and commitments, are dependable, and do what they are supposed to do. A loyal person is a good friend, stands up for and protects family, friends, school, and country, and keeps secrets.
Parents may reinforce the concept of trustworthiness by:
Never asking your child to lie for you.
Returning things that you borrow promptly, and arriving on time for appointments.
Keeping promises you make to others.
Admitting mistakes and not taking credit for the work of others.
Returning the money when you're given too much change at the store.
