Caring
People who are caring are kind, loving, considerate, and charitable. Caring means feeling kindness for people, animals and the earth, and expressing these feelings through acts of generosity and service. A caring person puts himself or herself in another person's shoes, and responds with compassion to the needs of others. A caring person has a charitable spirit and is generous to those in need. Caring people give money, time, support, and comfort, just for the sake of making someone else's life better, not for praise, gratitude, or some other external reward. Caring people take good care of themselves and do their very best at the jobs they take on.
Parents may reinforce the concept of caring by:
Treating the environment and the creatures within it with kindness.
Letting your child see you giving generously of your time and effort.
Making your child aware of acts of kindness around him or her. Always note when someone has paid you a kindness. For example, point out when someone holds a door open for you, or when a person makes room for you in traffic, or helps you pick up something you have dropped.
Helping your child write and send thank-you notes to those who have given them a gift or helped them out in some way.
Visiting a sick or lonely person to help cheer them up.
