Self-Discipline
Self-discipline means being responsible for yourself, in all the things you say and do. A self-disciplined person thinks before they act. If something is unkind or not the right thing to do, a self-disciplined person has control not to do it. Self-disciplined people create and follow routines, habits and rules for themselves that bring order to their lives, help them get along well with others, and accomplish their goals.
Parents may reinforce self-discipline by:
Taking time to "cool off" before confronting someone you're mad at.
Making time to think about the consequences of your actions before making a decision. (You may want to share this process verbally with your child).
Completing your work or responsibilities before watching TV or doing something fun.
Not allowing your feelings to control your actions.
