Norris School District, Elem Guidance Office

•    All practices are held in the High School gym.  All games will be held in the High School north gym.

• Team-issued uniforms will be handed out the third week of practice.  When wearing uniform tops, they must be tucked in the shorts at all times.  Students are responsible for their uniform.  If the uniform gets lost, it must be paid for by the student.

• Failing List:  Athletes receive one warning per quarter or sport season.  Every subsequent failure results in non-participation in contests until they are passing all their classes.  Coaches must receive clearance from the Middle School office that athlete is passing at least 24 hours before game is played.

• If riding home from the game with someone else’s parents, we need a signed note one day before the volleyball match.  If athlete is riding home with their parents, parents need to sign the coach’s roster sheet at the game.

• Unexcused absences from practice or games result in:

     First Offense:  you will miss the next volleyball match      
Second Offense:  you will be dismissed from the team

•  No headsets or electronic equipment during practice or matches 

• Game Expectations:  All athletes will be expected to be at the games.  You are expected to sit as a team and watch the match (no boyfriends, family, etc.).  You are expected to help with warm ups (shagging balls).  Do not roll the balls under the net.  If you need to leave a match early, please discuss this with one of your coaches prior to the match.  It is important to remain for the whole game.  We will have times when you can go to the restroom or concession stand.

• 7^th grade volleyball will consist of an ‘A’ Team, ‘B’ Team, and a ‘C’ Team.  Most games with the exception of the Norris and Elkhorn tournaments will start at 4:15.  The B team will play first, followed by “A’.  If the opponent does not have enough girls to play a ‘C’ game, a scrimmage between the ‘C’ team members will be scheduled another time.  The coaching staff will select the teams.

• If you are ill in the a.m. and come to school for the p.m. game, you are ineligible to compete in that day’s game.  If you have a medical appointment the day of a game, the school needs to know about it in writing 24 hours in advance to be eligible for the game.

• Two copies of the rules have been given to each athlete.  Please return one signed copy to Coach Gushard or Coach Wirth.  Feel free to keep the second copy.

For away games, you can call 791-0002..wait for prompt…dial 2662…then press the pound (#) key.  There will be a message, “The 7^th grade volleyball team will be returning to Norris…..”. If there is no message about returning, then the game is not over yet.

The 7^th grade Norris Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, September 13^th.  It is also the date of the Norris 8^th Grade Tournament.  The games will be played at the same time.  This will be an “A” team tournament.
