7th Grade Basketball Expectations 2009
You MUST have a blue card before you can practice. We
already have blue cards for those girls who participated in volleyball and cross
country.
All practices are held in the elementary gym. Practices will be from 6:30 a.m.
to 8:05 a.m., unless you are otherwise informed. The elementary WILL NOT
be open until 6:15 a.m., so please don’t arrive before then. Please be on the
floor and ready for practice at 6:30 a.m. If you are late for practice, you will
be required to make up the time you missed (after practice).
If school is cancelled or starts late because of bad weather, we will NOT
have basketball practice.
If you are ill in the a.m. and come to school late for a game after school,
you are ineligible to compete in that day’s game. If you have a medical
appointment the day of a game, the school needs to know about the appointment in
writing 24 hours in advance to be eligible for the game.
If YOU choose not to participate in practice, then YOU are choosing not to
participate in the next game.
Team-issued uniforms will be handed out the second or third week of practice.
We have fairly new uniforms this year, so please take care of them. If your
uniform gets lost or damaged, YOU will be required to pay for a replacement.
Failing List: Athletes receive one warning per quarter or sport season. Every
subsequent failure results in non-participation in contests until you are
passing all your classes. Coaches must receive clearance from the Middle School
office that an athlete is passing at least 24 hours before a game is played.
If riding home from the game with someone else’s parents, we need a signed
note one day before the game. If an athlete is riding home with their parents,
parents need to sign the coach’s roster sheet AFTER the game.
Unexcused absences from practice or games result in:
o First Offense: you will not be allowed to play in the next basketball game
o Second Offense: you will be dismissed from the team
No headsets or electronic equipment during practice or games. You will not be
allowed to take pictures with your cell phones on the bus after dark (it
distracts the bus driver).
Please report ALL injuries to the coaches immediately. If you have an inhaler,
please bring it to ALL practices and games.
When you step on the basketball court, we are ONE team---Norris Titans All
athletes will be expected to be at all the games. You are expected to sit as a
team and watch the game (no boyfriends, family, etc.). If you need to leave a
game early, please discuss this with one of your coaches prior to the game. It
is important to remain for the whole game. We will inform you of times when you
can go to the restroom or concession stand.
7th grade basketball will consist of an ‘A’ Team and ‘B’ Team. Most games,
with the exception of the Norris and Waverly tournaments, will start at 4:15.
The ‘B’ team will play first, followed by “A’. If the opponent has enough girls
to play an extra quarter (6 minute running clock), girls who did not get much
playing time during the ‘B’ game will play in this quarter. The coaching staff
will select the teams.
Two copies of these rules have been given to each athlete. Please return the
BLUE signed copy to Coach Gushard or Coach Halvorsen. You are encouraged to keep
the second copy.
Please feel free to call us if you have any questions
