Freshman Transition Program

Objectives…

improved time management / study skills -- use of PLANNER and IAP
goal setting…long term (graduate in 4-years), short term (do my homework everyday)
help students acquire skills needed for post secondary transition…Career Exploration
continued social skills development combined with a desire for greater independence – you can do well in school and still have a social life!
get involved -- take a risk and join a club, sport, run for an office…make the most of high school!!

Ninth grade challenges...

Higher expectations academically -- 9th grade is often the most academically difficult experience of a student’s K-12 experience "even students who entered freshman year with above-average test scores could end up off track by the end of the 9th grade.”--Education Week
