Chrome Browser

All Google apps work better if you are using the Google Chrome web browser. USE it!

At school, if it is installed on your computer it will be under the start menu, programs and internet. (Every Computer should already have it installed!)

If it is not installed, staff can install Chrome from the O dirve. At school, do not install it from the Google Web site. All new machine images at Norris include the chrome Browser. (If the Goolge web browser is not on your computer, you can install it on your Norris machine by going to the following location on the O drive: O:\Google_chrome\Google_pack and run the installer called: Google Updater.exe <-----Install from Here!

Setup Google Chrome to open up the tabs you want to save a lot of time! Tutorial here.

From the Wrench, options, and then under the personal stuff tab... make sure you have syncing setup. As shown below:

This will sync all of your tabs, chrome extentions and applications, and more. This is a great feature!!!

If you install an extension to the Chrome Browser, it add some functionality icons in the top right-hand corner of the browser screen as shown below:

Must haves:
Mail Checker Plus It is great for Gmail notifications.
Google Shortcuts Very customizable to include quick links to mail, docs, bookmarks, etc...
IE Tab (Adds a tab to surf as Internet Explorer in a Chrome Tab.)

Chrome to Phone (Nice app if you have a Droid Cell Phone.)
DropBox A must have if you use dropbox.
GTasks Awesome if you use Google Tasks. If you have an Adroid Phone, or use the iGoogle Page with the GTasks widget, you need this app!

The Web Clipboard extension allows you to copy and paste text and images easily with the Google Docs clipboard. This means that all the web content that you copy and paste is stored in the online clipboard so you can access it quickly and easily across multiple browser windows.
If you use Google Voice, this extension is great.
The goo.gl URL shortening extension is nice if you want to shorten URL's or even make a QR code for a web address.
If you use Evernote, then the Clip to Evernote extension is a must.
Diigo is the #1 extension for annotating, archiving and bookmarking webpages. It is a great service.
If you use Blogger, then the Blog This Extension is nice.
The Google Calendar Extension gives you quick access to your calendar on any web page.

Other possible extensions and Chrome apps:
This extension gives you the possibility to "Snooze your email".
Turn off the lights - The entire page will be fading to dark, so you can watch the video as if you were in the cinema
The TweetDeck Chrome app allows you to follow twitter using TweetDeck in a browser window.

Tip: Add a quick link bookmark for your Google online bookmarks. Make a link, and copy the following code for the URL location:

Put this link in the Google bookmark bar to have a quick way to add a website to your Google bookmarks.
