Water Bottles

 

Studies show our brains function better and we are all around healthier when we drink ample water throughout the day. In fourth grade, we want to promote healthy lifestyles and choices, thus we encourage students to drink lots of water through their school day. 

We encourage each child at Norris to carry a water bottle and stay hydrated throughout the day. Here's a few quick facts for you and your child to enjoy.

Water bottles can be filled with ONLY water.

bullet

They should be taken home and CLEANED at least once a week.

bullet

They should stay clearly labeled with the student's name and room number.

bullet

Student may carry their water bottles with them to each core class.

Students, who regularly drink water read faster, make fewer mistakes and better comprehend text material than those who don’t.

It encourages and helps students to form healthy habits that they'll continue to remember for a lifetime.

The energy requirement of the brain dominates over all other organs. At least 20% of our food intake is directly utilized by the brain.

Research has shown that dehydration causes higher salt levels in the blood which in turn raises blood pressure and stress.

Also, since the brain is made up of more water than any other organ in the body, dehydration takes a toll quickly, causing a loss of attentiveness and lethargy.
