Studies show our brains function better and we are all
around healthier when we drink ample water throughout the day. In fourth
grade, we want to promote healthy lifestyles and choices, thus we
encourage students to drink lots of water through their school day.
We encourage each child at Norris to carry a water bottle
and stay hydrated throughout the day. Here's a few quick facts for you and your
child to enjoy.

Water is essential to support all learning and
essential for the electrical transmissions that take place within
our nervous system, making us more ENERGETIC! |
 |
Students, who regularly drink water read faster,
make fewer mistakes and better comprehend text material than those
who don’t. |
 |
It encourages and helps students to form healthy
habits that they'll continue to remember for a lifetime. |
 |
The energy requirement of the brain dominates over
all other organs. At least 20% of our food intake is directly
utilized by the brain. |
 |
Research has shown that dehydration causes higher
salt levels in the blood which in turn raises blood pressure and
stress. |
 |
Also, since the brain is made up of more water than
any other organ in the body, dehydration takes a toll quickly,
causing a loss of attentiveness and lethargy. |
