Tonight was a great opening swim meet for the Beatrice, Norris, Fairbury swim team. The girls came away with the win, and the boys performed very well. We always worry for this first meet….did we prepare enough, did we get in enough yards at practice, did we teach the stroke well enough to our new swimmers, and is the team bonding together. Well, I believe we can say yes to all of these. We have a very large team this year with 54 swimmers. Each of them have put in a tremendous amount of work over the past few weeks. It showed tonight in the upperclassman, with many swimming personal best times, and our new swimmers putting great effort into each of their events.

We started off the night with diving and Camryn Wisnieski, diving a personal best for 6 dives. Then, the first swimming event was the 200 yard medley, where our team of Maya Moran, Crystal Craft, Mikasa Lierman, and Mikwena Lierman finished in first place and also, broke a school record and had an automatic state qualifying time.

Also finishing in first place tonight were:
Mikwasa Lierman in the 200 free and 100 butterfly, and had a secondary state qualifying time in the 50 free.
Crystal Craft in the 100 breaststroke, with a secondary state qualifying time.
Mikwena Lierman in the 50 and 100 free, and had an automatic state qualifying time in the 50 free.
Maya Moran in the 500 free and 100 back
200 free relay for the girls: of Mikasa Lierman, Josi Manns, Maya Moran, and Mikwena Lierman
Girls 400 free relay of Morgan McCubbin, Lauren Havlat, Josi Manns, and Crystal Craft.

We also had many swimmers swim personal best times tonight.
Crystal Craft in the breaststroke and the 200 individual medley
Courtney Knepp in the 50 free
Bri Knothe in the 50 free
Carson Monhollon in the 50 free
Camryn Wisnieski in 6 dives
Lauren Havlat in the 100 free
David Gray in the 100 backstroke
Michael Walsh in the 100 breaststroke

As coaches, we were extremely pleased with everyone tonight. We know we have a tremendous amount of talent on the team and look forward to the rest of our meets, to see each and every one of them improve.
Next action for the swim team is on Saturday, Dec. 1st with the Beatrice Invitational. Diving begins at 8:30 and swimming will follow about 11:00 at the YMCA.
