DESCRIPTION
Seventh Grade Social Studies is a yearlong class that meets three times a week
for 68 minutes each session. First, second and fourth quarter will cover
geography around the world and third quarter will cover economics.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Geography
Students will be able describe, identify, discuss and examine the various
landforms, climates, economies, histories, governments and lifestyles found in
the following countries.
1. Geography of the World
2. The United States and Canada
3. Latin America
4. Australia and New Zealand
Economics
1. United States Economic system – Students will identify the steps in
organizing a business and examine the role of government in the U.S. economy.
2. International Economics - Students will explore how resources can impact
countries and explain the basics of international trade.
3. Personal Economics – Students will explore career options and examine
personal financial management and the use of credit.
WRITING ACTIVITIES
1. Students will write summaries of current newspaper articles and how it has an
affect on their lives.
2. Students will write notes over material covered in the book and in lectures.
3. Students will write short answer essays on quiz and test assignments.
4. Students will write and present various projects through out the year.
MULTICULTURE ACTIVITIES
1. Students will explore various cultures from around the world.
2. Students will learn the history, religion, arts, language, government, social
groups, and economics of the major regions of the world.
3. Students will compare and contrast their culture to cultures world wide.
4. Students will explore how resources can impact countries and explain the
basics of international trade.
