DESCRIPTION
This is an elective class that meets three days a week. This instrumental
ensemble is designed to develop the students’ technical and musical skills on
their instruments. Students are given the opportunity to perform solos or small
ensemble literature. This class will perform two to four public performances
that will include concerts and contests.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
1. Students will demonstrate the ability to take care of their instruments
properly.
2. Students will perform from memory concert scales up and down through four
sharps and four flats.
3. Students will perform from memory the chromatic scale up and down full range
of their instrument.
4. Students will accurately perform various rhythmic patterns.
5. Students will perform literature in a variety of musical genres and
historical styles.
6. Students will demonstrate proper concert performance decorum and audience
etiquette.
WRITING ACTIVITIES
1. Students will write evaluations of their performances and the performances of
others.
2. Students will write journals about their rehearsal and performance
experiences.
3. Students will write reports on various music topics.
MULTICULTURAL ACTIVITIES
1. Students will perform music from various cultures.
