Lifetime Sports

DESCRIPTION

Lifetime Sports is a semester elective course offered to students in grades 9-12. This course is designed to orientate students with the skills and knowledge necessary for participation in lifetime sports. This course is designed more specifically to cover leisure time activities although each could be pursued on a competitive basis. Basic skills and knowledge of rules about each activity is essential for proper participation in the activity. Personal fitness will be stressed and strived for through a short routine of daily exercises. Written tests and daily participation will be considered in determining each student's grade.

CATEGORICAL OBJECTIVES

1. Students will execute knowledge of the rules and regulations for lifetime sport activities.

2. Students will practice and perform the basic skills and fundamentals necessary to participate in lifetime sport activities.

3. Students will practice various games and activities that promote physical activity and cooperation among classmates.

WRITING ACTIVITIES

1. Students will write out answers to short answer and essay tests.

2. Students may be asked to make-up missed class by writing a report
on a topic related to life sports.

3. Students may do a research paper on one or more of the activities.
