DESCRIPTION
Aerobics is an elective course offered to students in grades 9-12. This course
consists of two units: floor exercise and aerobic dance. The aerobic unit will
promote cardiovascular fitness. Floor exercise will promote the development of
muscle tone. This unit is designed to assist the student in developing a daily,
weekly, and monthly fitness routine for the promotion of a sound lifestyle.
CATEGORIAL OBJECTIVE
1. Students will execute various aerobic and floor routines.
2. Students will examine and measure the relationship between workload and heart
rate.
3. Students will explain the basic concepts of cardiovascular and muscular
fitness.
4. Students will examine the benefit of aerobic and anaerobic workouts.
5. Students will evaluate current fitness levels and maintain or improve those
levels.
6. Students will write an aerobic and floor exercise routine. They will also
teach the routine to the class.
WRITING ACTIVITIES:
1. Students will write an aerobic and floor exercise routine.
2. Students may be asked to make-up a missed class by writing a report on a
topic related to aerobics.
