of Course:
The study of school age children and adolescence will be included in the course.
The course deals with stress of the family including divorce, drugs and alcohol,
teenage pregnancy, death, etc. Professions involving children are explored and a
playa school lab for pre-school children is a part of this course.
Categorical Objectives:
1. Students will describe techniques and procedures for the care and well being
of children.
2. Students will relate the developmental stages of children by age.
3. Students will exhibit care and nurturing in the interaction of student with
preschool and young children.
4. Students will explain procedures of day care and methods to enhance
children’s learning.
5. Students will describe stressful situations within a family and methods of
effectively dealing with them.
Writing Activities:
1. Students will write papers about various topics throughout the course.
2. Students will define terms and write about answers to questions and case
studies in the chapters.
Multicultural Education Activities:
1. Students will relate with many children throughout the semester and meet
children of various racial origins as well as handicapped individuals.
2. Students will listen and respond to people who speak about living in and
working in a world of various cultures.
