Technical Writing

DESCRIPTION

This is an elective class which meets five days a week at forty-four minutes per session. This course promotes literacy through a review of grammar, spelling, usage and vocabulary and emphasis on written work. Special attention will be given to critical reading and thinking skills and critical and technical writing.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

1. Students will review English grammar, usage, spelling, vocabulary, etc (12.2.1).
2. Students will use critical reading skills (12.1).
3. Students will use critical thinking skills (12.1).
4. Students will use analytical writing skills using the Six-trait Method of Analytical writing (12.2).
5. Students will use technical writing skills using the Six-trait Method (12.2).
6. Students will formulate self-generated questions.

WRITING ACTIVITIES

1. Students will use documentation (research).
2. Students will use outlining.
3. Students will write analytically using the Six-trait Method of Analytical writing.
4. Students will write chronologically/spatially.
5. Students will write business letters.
6. Students will be made aware of other specific technical forms of writing.

MULTICULTURAL ACTIVITIES

1. Students will show sensitivity to different people's views as issues arise based on classroom activities.
