Description of Course:
Information processing is one-semester course that features the use of the popular Word Perfect and Microsoft Works software programs. Students will apply their skills by producing printed copy of various correspondence, reports and other projects. They will demonstrate their ability to access and use data base material.

Categorical Objectives:
1. Students will produce hard copy by entering, editing, formatting, managing, and printing information.
2. Students will access information from both teacher-designed and student-designed data bases into which students have keyed information.
3. Students will integrate the word processing, data base, and spreadsheet functions of the program.

Writing Activities:
1. Integrated within the course are a few projects (letters and reports) that the students must compose by themselves.
2. As the entire class relates to information that is communicated within a business or personal office, the writing activities also include learning the appropriate format for business communications of many kinds.

Multicultural Education Activities:
1. Within the essays and newsletters that the students must type for this class are a couple articles related to multicultural education.
