DESCRIPTION
Each student will expand upon skills developed in Introductory Art within a two
dimensional framework. Advanced drawing and design techniques will be explored
as will printing processes such as block, etching, silkscreen and vinyl. Basic
elements of art and the principles of design will incorporated into each area.
Emphasis will be placed on using art concepts to create a more advanced looking
product and gaining an appreciation for well crafted artwork. Students will be
required to keep a sketchbook as a working guide for their project work.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
1. Each student will be introduced to the following 2-dimensionsal processes:
A. Character creation
B. Multiple media exploration
C. Focal point creation
D. Color usage and separation
E. Abstract design
F. Human drawing
2. Each student will be introduced to the following subtraction printmaking
processes:
A. Linoleum Print (multiple color)
B. Dry-Point etching
C. Silk-screen processes
D. Vinyl processes
WRITTING ACTIVITIES
1. Students will be required to perform the following tasks:
A. Each student will write a report on a specific artist or art style.
B. Each student will be required to take written tests over 2–dimensional
related information.
MULTICULTURAL EDUCATION ACTIVITIES
1. Students will be exposed to a series of multicultural events which will
include:
A. Learning artistic techniques for specific art periods and cultures
B. Learning about prominent historical data (persons, places and events) of
foreign cultures.
