2 - Physical Education TEXTBOOK
None DESCRIPTION
Children are still encouraged to move in their own way but begin to be
involved in team concept
and group dependence games. At
this level basic movement work continues with organized work
in a variety of throwing, catching, moving, and other skills as well as
handling many different
objects. Emphasis is placed
on perceptual motor skills and solving movement problems.
The demands in activities become more
critical and there is more opportunity to achieve.
Students are
taught elements of good sportsmanship and are given an opportunity to
trust in game and relay
situations. COURSE
OBJECTIVES 1.
Students will continue to work on basic movement patterns. 2.
Students will continue to work on balance and posture skills. 3.
Students will work with many different objects (hula hoops, bean bags,
aerobics, balls, etc.) 4.
Students will work on parachute activities. 5.
Students will participate in various relays. 6.
Students will be introduced to exercise programs, including flexibility
and obstacle courses. 7.
Students will participate in various games that develop upper and lower
body strength. 8.
Students will learn the importance of fair play and getting along. WRITING
ACTIVITIES
Students will trace various shapes and letters as part of fine motor
activities.
MULTICULTURAL
EDUCATION ACTIVITIES 1.
Students will have access to physical education activities regardless of
race. 2.
Students will have nonsexist, unbiased, non-derogatory language in the
physical education
classroom. 3.
Hallway poster displays of athletes from various cultures will serve as
