DESCRIPTION

Kindergarten music includes singing and movement.  Children learn to become part of a larger group.  They are exposed to pitch awareness, rhythmic awareness, and sound quality.  They learn to listen to music, and to move through improvised or patterned movement.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

The students will sing as part of a group using a pleasing sound while becoming aware of matching pitch.

The students will respond to beat using body percussion and rhythm instruments.

The students will express music through movement using games, improvised movement, and patterned movement.

The students will identify instruments by sight and timbre.

 WRITING ACTIVITIES

Students will identify letters using various songs, flashcards, and body movements as a preface to writing.

MULTICULTURAL EDUCATION

Students will learn songs from different cultures.
