Elementary Vocal Music TEXTBOOK Share the Music (McMillian McGraw Hill) 2003 Grade 4 DESCRIPTION Students sing adding rounds, ostinato and descants. They study the role of music in Nebraska's heritage. They study symphonic instruments, rhythm reading, form, tempo markings, and phrases. They learn to play simple melodic patterns on Orff instruments, and continue movement through folk dance. COURSE OBJECTIVES 1. Students will be able to sing many songs with a pleasing tone quality, adding a simple ostinato. 2. Students will be able to identify direction and repeated tones. 3. Students will be able to respond to beat, using body percussion and rhythm instruments. 4. Students will be able to hear, sing and play dynamic changes, as well as understand balance. 5. Students will be able to identify different tempos. 6. Students will be able to identify ABA and AB form, as well as phrasing. 7. Students will be able to identify the different orchestral instruments, particularly the woodwinds. 8. Students will be able to play simple melodies in addition to accompaniments on the Orff instruments. WRITING ACTIVITIES Students will describe their emotional response to a piece of music. Students will describe music using appropriate vocabulary. MULTICULTURAL EDUCATION Students learn dances, singing games and rhythm patterns of many cultures. |
