Share the Music (McMillian McGraw Hill) 2003 Grade 3

DESCRIPTION

            Students sing musically, adding rounds.  They continue music reading skills.  Students are introduced to harmony, form and direction.  They will be able to identify orchestral and folk instruments, and continue playing Orff instruments, adding contrast to the basic bordun.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

1.  Students will be able to sing many songs with a pleasing tone quality, adding     rounds.

2.  Students will be able to identify upward, downward, and repeated pitches.

3.  Students will be able to respond to beat using body percussion and rhythm instruments.

4.  Students will be able to hear, sing, and play dynamic changes.

5.  Students will be able to identify different tempos.

6.  Students will be able to recognize ABA form in music.

7.  Students will be able to identify stringed instruments, both orchestral and folk.

8.  Students will be able to do simple folk dances and singing games.

9.  Students will play instrumental accompaniments on the Orff instruments.

WRITING ACTIVITIES

Students will list words and phrases, describing and comparing various pieces of music.

Students will use icons and symbols to express music elements.

 

MULTICULTURAL EDUCATION ACTIVITIES

Students will learn songs and games from different cultures.
