Differentiated Literature (Diff Lit)

This course focuses on American literature and builds on the concepts learned in the 10th grade differentiated class. It covers basic high school English skills, such as grammar, usage, and high-level vocabulary. Students will learn how to write literary analysis essays as well as participate in a variety of writing activities, such as reader responses, writing-reading checks, and poetry.

The reading materials for this course include modern and “classic” fiction, non-fiction, short stories, poetry, and choice reading. Students will also spend a portion of the course preparing for the ACT assessment in the spring.
