Shirley Montgomery

Shirley Montgomery joined the staff at Norris in the fall of 1982.  Prior to teaching at Norris, she spent six years in other Nebraska schools, one year as a legal secretary, and four years working as a Certified Public Accountant.  She still maintains her CPA license and continues to do tax return preparation work from her home.

She received a B.S. in Business Education with high distinction from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in June 1971 and a M.A. in Business Education from UN-L in August 1978.  Since then, she has accumulated 36 graduate hours above the master’s degree.

She spends her spare time traveling with her family and adding to her collection of license plates.  Her collection, begun in the early 1990s, has grown to well over 6,000 plates.  Shirley and her husband have set a personal goal of traveling to each of the nation’s 3,146 counties.  The 83 percent mark was reached in 2006.
