The Norris Titans showed considerable grit and speed to bring home the championship from the Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson Invitational. Norris trounced Runner-up Millard 51-28 in the championship match after dispatching Brownell-Talbot, Blair A, Thomas Jefferson A, Bellevue East A in the afternoon tournament. The Norris A team included James Miller, Jared Wiggins, Joel Keralis, and Justin Clay.
The Norris B team, consisting of members John Miller, Scott Thompson, Brian Lococo and Adam Brazee also competed in the tournament, finishing with a win against three losses. The Titan B squad posted a win over Bellevue West A 29-22 and lost close matches to Millard, Sioux City East, and Thomas Jefferson B.
The Titan's path to the championship was extremely difficult and featured close matches against some excellent teams. After dispatching Brownell-Talbot in the first round, Norris had to take on a tough team from fellow EMC member Blair. After jumping to a seemingly safe 31-21 lead, the Bears staged a 10-2 run to pull with 4 points. The same script was used in the next round as Norris lead early 33-23 before watching Thomas Jefferson pull ahead just before the end of the match. At the end of regulation time, TJ led by one, but a challenge was upheld forcing the match into overtime, where Norris prevailed 44-43. The semifinals pitted the Titans against a Bellevue East team, which had not been beaten all year and had dominated most matches by large margins. In a match that was tight all the way, Norris pulled out a 43-40 win using a 10-6 run during the last two minutes. The Titans dominated the Millard team 51-28 in the finals in a match that was never close.
