Norris FFA Members
Participate in District Competition

On Wednesday, January 19th, members of
Norris FFA competed at the District Leadership Skills Events held at
Southeast Community College in Beatrice. Members competed in seven
different categories, placing highly in all seven categories.

The results for the competition were: Employment
Skills-Jessalyn Schrock placed first and qualified for state, Kelsey
Ankerson placed fourth with a purple. In Junior Public Speaking, Margot
Nason received third place with a blue and Garret Schrock earned a white
ribbon.

The rankings for Junior Parliamentary Procedure:
Norris 1 received second place, a purple, and qualified for state. Team
members included: Margot Nason, Ellen Norton, Britta Doeschot, Gatlin
Schlake, Garret Schrock, Blake Huls, and Megan Rice. Norris 2 placed 4th
with a blue ribbon. Team members included Julie Russell, Doug Norby,
Chip Kaplan, Braden Zyssett, Tyler Hunt, Tyler Halvorsen, and Cari Kubr.

In Senior Parliamentary Procedure, Norris
received first place and qualified for state. Team members included
Jessalyn Schrock, Jenna Henke, Hillary Schlake, Ryan Hagan, Kelsey
Ankerson, and Anna Russell.

In Creed Speaking, Julie Russell placed second and
qualified for state, and Britta Doeschot placed third with a blue.

Anna Russell placed first in Extemporaneous
Speaking and qualified for state.

In the Agricultural Demonstration event the Norris
Welding demonstration team of Cory Hart, Dustin Doeschot, and Brandon
Niemeyer earned first place and qualified for state, and the Norris
Floral demonstration of Chelsey Hieronymus and Carissa Rose received a
blue ribbon. Eighth grade agricultural students enjoyed participating
in the Quiz Bowl. All in all, members enjoyed competing and look
forward to the State FFA Convention in April.
