Students & Teachers:

Last week there were several locker thefts resulting in stolen cell phones, cash, billfolds and purses.  Arrests were made and disciplinary action taken against those found responsible for a couple of these incidents while we continue to investigate others.

A weekend student locker check by administration determined that about 2/3 of students are leaving their lockers unlocked.  Many students have even been using wads of paper, pencil fragments or other objects to prevent their lockers from locking.  Other locker combinations were simply left on the last number of the combination so the locks had remained open.

Virtually all of these lockers proved to be in working order and capable of being locked when the handle was closed and the combination turned.

In order to increase locker security, the following are strongly recommended:

1.                  LOCK your locker!

2.                  Do not leave the lock on your locker turned to the last number of your combination.

3.                  Under no circumstances should you mechanically alter a locker in order to prevent it from locking.

4.                  If you are not going to lock your locker, do not store items of value (commercial or sentimental) in your locker.  Keep them in your personal possession at all times.

5.                  Keep your locker combination confidential & do not disclose your locker combination to anyone.

6.                  Please report any stolen articles to administration and we will investigate the matter.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Mr. Skretta and Mr. Bates
