Matt Heibel

Home Town: I was born in Clay Center Kansas, grew up in Lincoln, and lived in St. Louis for the longest uninterrupted period of time. 

First Year of Teaching: I began teaching in 1984 at Lutheran High School North, St. Louis, Missouri.  I taught science and was later Assistant Principal there for 11 years.  In 1995 I went to Concordia University, where I was Registrar and taught in the Education Department for five years.  In 2000 I went to Decatur, IL to start a new high school.  I have also coached football at the high school and college level and basketball at the high school level.  This is my sixth year at Norris.

Degrees:  I received a Bachelor's of Science degree from Concordia University in 1984 and a Master's of Education degree in Educational Administration in1990 from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.  I've completed all the course work for a Doctorate in Educational Administration at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Extra Duty Assignments: 

Family:  I have a wife, Susie, who is a kindergarten teacher at Riley Elementary in Lincoln, and three children, Nicole, who is in her first year of Pharmacy school, Jesse, who is a senior in high school, and Anne, who is in eighth grade.

Hobbies/Interest Areas: Athletics and reading.
